The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk . It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes on its 55 km (34 mi) path. The route is typically completed over 2–4 days with potential stops at the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil and Emstrur. An ultramarathon is held on the route each July. It is possible to combine the trek with the Fimmvörðuháls route which goes over the pass from Þórsmörk to Skógar for an additional one or two days or an additional 25 km (16 mi). European Pine martens are a species I have long since wanted to photograph especially in their habitat however it did take a trip to the Scottish Highlands to fulfil my goal, up at 5 am each morning my patience paid off and over four days many images were taken. Feeling very privileged and also delighted at being able to see these creatures in their environment. Dave

A favourite album this time of year is George Winston's "Winter." While caught up in the bliss of the historical Ukrainian church in Redwater, AB with gigantic snowflakes falling past my lens, the clarity and detail of every note was unmistakable. How pristine the sight, and how perfect my recollection of these fine piano melodies.

I took this shot a couple of years ago in Oregon. It was just off the beach and was very windy, as you can see from the tree. What really touched me was the three people on the right...the way they were hanging onto each other. To me it signified a very close bond.

Cette fleur de cactus ne fleurit qu'une seule petite journée.
Elle s'ouvre discrètement tôt le matin et se ferme délicatement avec la chute du jour.
Il faut juste être là au bon moment et savoir jouer avec sa beauté.
Je ne connais pas la variété.
Je sais juste, que ce cactus pousse dans un pot solitaire à deux pas de ma porte et l'avoir "loupé" durant 2 ans, avant de le mettre en photos.

Warwick Bar Conservation Area covers an area of 16.2 hectares (40 acres) where the Birmingham-to-London Grand Union Canal meets the Digbeth Branch Canal.[1] It was designated such status on 25 June 1987.[2] It covers the entire length of the Digbeth Branch Canal through the Eastside area and a section of the River Rea. To the south is the Digbeth, Deritend and Bordesley High Streets Conservation Area.[1]
The conservation area includes three of the statutorily listed buildings in Birmingham, each built by the canal company in the 1840s and 1850s, and a locally listed canal warehouse built in 1935. In total, there are five listed buildings and six locally listed buildings.[1] One locally listed building, the former Co-op furniture factory works (1899) on Belmont Row was destroyed by fire on 11 January 2007 in a suspected arson attack. Seventy-five percent of the building was damaged by a fire which caused the roof to collapse and which also destroyed seven arched windows.[3] On 18 January 2007, the façade of the building, which had survived the fire albeit smoke damaged, collapsed in on itself in high winds owing to the lack of support it received after the fire had been put out. This building had been due to be redeveloped as part of the Ventureast regeneration project

Each year at this time I try to photograph my first sighting of the wild flower Prairie Crocus - Anemone patens . It is also know as a pasque flower as it arrives right around Easter. Once again this year, it is right on time. We saw the first one on Good Friday.
I have been tracking the crocus appearance on Nose Hill for 15 years now. In 2016, I saw the first crocus on March 19. In 2020, it was as late as April 25.

Each year the ice free water in this area attracts a number of wintering swans. To get close enough for some shots I tromped along the edge of the river through about a foot of snow. The weather was great (cold and sunny) making for an enjoyable outing.

The rains continue to fall. It rained on St Swithin's Day and so we expect another 40 days of it. As each drop of rain falls, I feel my fear and worries rise. I am once again picking our son up from the floor following a seizure induced fall. His new specialist epilepsy neurologist is seeing us soon and I am documenting his current condition in his ‘seizure diary’. It does not make good reading.
I fear how I will convey this crucial information. I can talk about epilepsy and autism as well as his other conditions fluently and with confidence. But this meeting will be about our son. When I talk about the pain and torment our son lives through each day, I am always overcome with emotion.
The diary will help, and it will contain thoughts and questions that I will refer to if I need prompts. I am not expecting anything in particular, we have been trying different things over many years now. But his condition is getting worse. In front of our very eyes, we see the changes.
My fears are as plentiful as the endless raindrops falling outside. I just hope this new neurologist listens to my story and commits to continuing to support us through whatever the future holds …
